Ruth Cozadd

Ruth E. Cozadd (nee Perry) of Mentor, Ohio was received into the loving arms of her savior, Jesus Christ on December 29, 2020. Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of sixty years, Ellis E. Cozadd, twin daughters Darla (Jay) Rovniak of Glen Allen, VA and Darlene (Dan) McNiel of Mentor, OH.  The joy and lights of her life, her precious granddaughters Darcy McNiel of Rosenberg, TX; Lauren (Joel) Murray of Nashville, TN; and Jocelyn Rovniak of Glen Allen, VA.  Also surviving are her dearly loved sisters Beatrice (Adam) Fredrick and Nora (Durb) Loudin, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph M. Perry, Sr. and Lavern K. (Stein) Perry; her in-laws Ellis M. & Harriet I. (Thompson) Cozadd; her brothers Robert M., Calvin C., Vernon R. and Ralph M. Perry, Jr. After graduating from Howland High School she began her career at Ohio Lamp in Warren, Ohio where she made light bulbs.  Over the course of her career she worked at Allen Bradley and Picker X-Ray as a printed circuit board assembler.  She was proud to serve on the Picker X-ray team that built the first CAT Scan machines.  She ended her career in 1994 retiring from PCC Airfoils. Her greatest life’s work and joy was raising her twins and then helping to raise her precious granddaughters. She also volunteered at Lake Elementary School helping a number of students improve their reading skills.  She enjoyed working with the students and would purchase them stickers and small gifts as rewards for their efforts. She never wanted anyone to go hungry and would cook and bake for her family and friends and supply groceries to those who were unemployed.  She baked and donated countless cookies, brownies and her famous “Hello Dollies” for many of her granddaughters’ activities and school functions.  She always proudly supported their endeavors in marching band, cheerleading, show choir, drama club and dance.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held later in 2021 when it is once again safe for her loved ones and friends to gather.

Cheryl Hertel

November 5, 1968 - December 23, 2020

Cheryl Victoria Hertel (nee Gittings) passed away on December 23, 2020. Cheryl leaves to mourn her mother Elaine; her children: Mark (Val), Damien, Liz (Brandon), and Adrian (Ray); her grandchildren: Brandon Jr. and Jayzon; her nephew Dominic. She is joining her twin sister Apryl, her brother Richard, and her niece Rachel. She leaves behind many Aunts, uncles, cousins and dearest friends. Thank you all for being in her life.

No services will be held at this time due to covid. A celebration of Life will be announced on social media and held at a later time in 2021.

Tommy Nash

Tommy Nash, 74, of Painesville Ohio passed away after his long battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Tommy was born in Tuscaloosa Alabama on December 12, 1946, born to the late Mary Frances Wynne. On December 14, 1996 he married the love of his life Lorri (24 years) and all the years together was 38. They had a son, Jeremy Ryan Nash (34). Tommy attended public school and graduated from Duritt High School and graduated from Boise Iowa College with a business associate's degree.

In 1968, Tommy moved to Cleveland Ohio to join his mom and found employment as a salesman and then became general manager at Regal Shoes.

1969, Tommy started at Rockwell Trucking learned how to drive semi, and worked his way up being a trainer, over the road truck driver, then a local driver.

In 1988, Tommy became owner operator and drove until 2016 when he retired.

Tommy has played golf since 1972. His first most of enjoyment of the game was practicing and playing different golf courses in Northeast Ohio. He loved betting his friends on holes along with teaching anyone that needed help. He also fished with his son, family, and friends and to see who could make up the biggest fish stories. Hunting was another activity he enjoyed, along with horse racing. Cousin Danny Spence taught him how to smoke meat and Tommy enjoyed sitting on his patio for hours cooking.

Survivors are his wife, Lorri, son Jeremy (Amanda). Grandchildren: McKenzie, Neigell, Neiman, Jeremy Jr, Mason, Autumn, Noel, and Cleo Jane. He loved spending time with his Nash Grands. He leaves behind very important people in his life, Sister in law: Chris Willhoite and cousin Mayo Spence-brother from another mother along with many family members and numerous friends. Nephew: Armando Morin very close relationship they spent many springs and summers playing golf and sitting down at F.A.T.S. restaurant talking with him and many of his friends.

Tommy is preceded in death: his mom Mary Frances Wynne and his mother in law Cleo Wiant.

Tommy will be remembered for love of golf, fishing, hunting, and horse racing: along with his genuine smile, his fun loving uplifting spirit. Tommy never met a stranger!

Lacy Lowe

Lacy Lowe, 60, of Eastlake passed away after his battle with cancer on Wednesday December 23, 2020 at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby, Ohio.

Lacy was born in East Cleveland, Ohio on May 7, 1960 to Ray and Frankie (Roberts) Lowe. On January 16, 1988 he married Patricia Helt, and together they had two loving children, Jessica (32) and Richard (29). A graduate of West Geauga High School, Lacy spent many years in the music retail industry before becoming co-owner of Gas and Grills in Willoughby with his wife from 2006-2020, which was opened by Patricia’s father in 1991. Lacy was a lifelong Cleveland sports fan and held season tickets for the Browns for over 40 years. He will be remembered for his love of sports and his fun loving, uplifting spirit.

Lacy was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Jessica (fiancé Jeffrey Milo), son Richard (Jacquelyn), brothers Wesley (Donna) and Kenneth (Debbie), as well as his many nieces and nephews.

A private ceremony will be held at St. Justin Martyr Church (35711 Stevens Blvd, Eastlake, OH 44095) followed by a Catholic burial at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Born September 3, 1941 in Mitchell County, Georgia, the first child of George W. Maloy and Leola (nee Reese) Maloy. She was married thrice, mother of two daughters. A person of great faith who loved God and at a young age, began her love of travel with the St. Luke Presbyterian Church. She had life roles as nurse, clerical supervisor, dispatch clerk, and smoking cessation counselor. She was active in workplace social groups such as a member of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) through a 25+ year employment with Dodge-McGraw Hill. The combination of travel, music and patriotism led to membership in The Veterans Association Medical Musical Group (VAMMG) where she honored our soldiers and veterans all over the world. No matter the relationship, she made your life better. She celebrated three retirements. She loved working, always providing efficient and loving service. When she could ‘no longer carry her weight,’ she retired for the last time in 2013 from MetroHealth (Metro General) Hospital, the place that she started in the workforce 60 years ago.

She departed this life on Sunday, December 20, 2020.

Her presence and position in this life will be unbearably missed as:

All of Ohio. Carolyn Frazier (Joe), Sally, Ethel, George Cannon, Richard, Nathan, of Georgia. Kimberly Maloy Cuevas and David Maloy, Sr, of Cleveland, Ohio.

Cousin to many including, not limited to Loretha, Carolyn, Rosie, Sandra, Turner

Lifetime sister/friend: Jewel Price, Katherine (Kat) Barkley, 67+ years; Annetta Provens, 45+ years.

Friend, co-worker and acquaintance to a multitude.

While she can never be replaced, we know that she is resting in His arms, having finished this course on Earth...   always with us.

Lillian Angela (Worthy, Everett) Vargo born 05/10/1943, entered into rest 12/18/2020. Lillian was preceded into eternity by her parents: George Worthy and Mary (Soriano) Worthy-Foster, and her brothers Joseph and Elliot Worthy. She is survived by her children Donald Everett, Mark (Debra) Everett and Traci (Richard) Tramte as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her beloved cousin Mary Bonney. Lillian was an outspoken believer in her Savior Jesus Christ and affected many lives through her unapologetic sharing of the Gospel. She loved her church family at Lakeshore A/G, Freedom A/G, and Victory Lane A/G as she loved her children and appreciated them all very much. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday 12/23/2020, at Victory Lane A/G, Mentor, Ohio @ 1pm.Masking and social distancing will be in practice at the service.

Joseph E. Podojil, 84, of formerly of Willoughby, Kirtland Hills and Englewood, Florida.

Mr. Podojil passed away Friday, December 18, 2020, one day shy of his 85th birthday.

Loving son of the late Edward and Frances Podojil.

Joseph was a loyal, loving, and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

As a proud alumnus of Bowling Green State University, he was an accomplished athlete in baseball and basketball, and a Sigma Nu brother. He married his college sweetheart Barbara Ann Benham. Joe and Barb moved to Lake County and began their teaching careers with the Willoughby-Eastlake School District. Joe impacted many lives as a beloved shop teacher and coach. He continued his love of baseball well into his 50s playing in various leagues in Lake County and Englewood, Florida. He worked hard to retire early and pursue his passions of home remodeling, antiquing, and wood working. Ahead of his time, he flipped homes and repurposed flea market finds before it was cool.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara; daughters Joy Totedo, born on his 25th birthday (Bob) and Susan Kahn; grandchildren Sarah Totedo (husband Kevin Shimp) and Emily Totedo, and Nolan and Hannah Kahn. He also leaves his nieces Gretchen Hannon and Dr. Alison Ruoss and their families.

Private family services will be held for Joe at his final resting place in St. Petersburg, Florida with his mother and father.

November 22, 1925 - December 11, 2020

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Wilma Marshalla Gentilly on December 11, 2020 in Willoughby Hills, Ohio at the age of 95.

Wilma will be lovingly remembered by her children James Gentilly and Diane Gentilly Campbell; her grandchildren, James Scott Gentilly, Danielle Campbell, Nicole Campbell and Christy Campbell; and great granddaughter, Ava Gentilly. 

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vilma Marshalla, husband, Dr. James Gentilly, son Scott Gentilly, and her five elder brothers.

Wilma was born on November 22, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. It was in Chicago where Wilma met the love of her life, Jim Gentilly, before he was shipped off to fight in World War II as a paratrooper.  As soon as he returned from the war, they married and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. 

Wilma was an avid bridge player and golfer.  Wilma loved singing and dancing, especially to her favorites, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. She was a huge Cleveland Indians fan who would regularly keep score the old-fashioned way. Wilma was also a master joke teller. We will forever share her laughter and humor for generations to come. She touched the lives of all who met her with her love, kindness, joy, and wit. But what was most important to Wilma was her FAMILY. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy; and we were all so very blessed to have Wilma in our lives. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family will have a private Celebration of Life, at a later date and requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Grace Hospice or the American Heart Society.

February 4, 1943 - December 7, 2020

Ronald Walter Abbott, 77, of Shaker Heights, OH, peacefully left our world on December 7, 2020 after a brief illness. He is survived by his devoted wife Anne and his children Anthony (Cathy) of Hillsburgh, Ontario, Andrea Kokosin (Rob) of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Jonathan of Hillsburgh, Ontario, Sarah Brown (Matt) of Shaker Heights, OH, and James (Hillary) of Novelty, OH. He is also survived by all of his beloved grandchildren Brendan, Spencer, Parker, Rowan, Faelynn, Jack, Abby, Henry and Lula. Ron was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada by parents Walter and Stella (Carmen). He was a long-time resident of Shaker Heights but a proud Canadian at heart. He was a talented athlete and coach. Ron was equally successful as an entrepreneur and businessman. An avid volunteer at Euclid Hospital, Ron received numerous awards for his service. Ron was ecstatic to spend time with his grandchildren whom he was very proud of. He had a deep love of Hockey no matter the age of players or the team affiliation, He was an avid Indians and Browns and Captains fan. He had a zest for life and a cheery outlook despite his health issues. He was also the #1 fan of the Christmas story movie. He will be dearly missed by his family and the many friends he has made over the years.

A celebration of life will be held once we can gather safely and share our memories and funny stories of a man who never stopped smiling.

Lester J. Edge

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the news of the passing of husband, brother, uncle and friend, Lester J. Edge. He died peacefully on December 10, 2020 surrounded by the love sent from many. Lester was born in on March 2, 1951 to the late Ellaweise and James Edge. He was married to Andrea Russo for 31 years. Lester grew up in Oakwood, Ohio, and graduated from the Bedford School System. He lived in New York for several years as a young man. After moving back to the Cleveland area, he worked for Silverman’s, received an Associate Degree from Cuyahoga Community College. He retired, due to health reason, from Valtronics in 2008 where he was an electronics technician.

Lester will be remembered as a quiet, kind, and generous man who loved and took great pride in his family and friends. As a mentor to many he used humor peppered with wisdom to guide and nurture. He loved to travel.  One of his favorite destinations was Minnesota’s Leach Lake with members of the Dunlevy Clan and of course cruising with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and bowling as well as being a lifelong Cleveland Indians fan. The memories he made and shared: stories of growing up with what seemed like hundreds of cousins, golf trips with the “guys” and many adventures with his best friend Geoff. There is so much more, and all will be remembered and cherished. But for now, we will remember the knowledge and compassion of this man that we will forever hold in our hearts. 

Lester is survived by his wife, Andrea Russo of Cleveland Heights, and sister Yvonne Edge of Euclid, Ohio. Sisters-In-law: Elnora (Madison), Justin (Rufus), Margie (Richard), Joann Jones and Carmella Fletcher; Brothers-in-law: Bob Fletcher and Thomas Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lester was preceded in death by his brothers, Madison, Rufus and Richard and sisters, Cora, and Bernice. 

Rest well sweet prince, it has been a privilege knowing and loving you. We will announce a celebration of his life at a later time.

Louis V. Mosely

Louis V. Mosely age 88 of Mentor, formerly of Lima OH. Passed away on December 10 2020, at his residence in Mentor, OH.  He was the second child to Louis Sr. & Geneva Mosely. His sister Gwendolyn Ruth Bailey proceeded him in death.

Louis was an affectionate man with great wit knowledge, skills, and had a captivating smile.

After graduating from Washington High School, he entered the U.S. Army.  There he received numerous medals and excelled in sharp shooting.       

He worked up to his rank of Corporal during the Korean Conflict.

After servicing he attended Central State University pledged to the Omega Psi Phi Inc. Fraternity. There he met and married Peggy Joyce DeFoor.  To this union one child Stephanie Giselle was born, who later graced him with one grandson Nathan Eugene Yancey II.

In 1977 he married Gwendolyn White.  Quickly embracing her 2 daughters Toni Joy and Crystal Joi as his own and was given the name Papa Lou.

The Mosely’s moved to Lima, OH owning several exceptionally manicured properties, and remained there for 29 years.

Louis had many talents and hobbies. They owned and raised dogs and horses.  He was a member of Ohio Horse Council riding on many trails and riding in fairs.  He was also a Mason member and National Rifle Association.

His hobbies included wood crafting, making furniture, golfing, fishing,  hunting, gardening, landscaping, motorcycling, and cars.

They returned to Cleveland, OH in 2006, settling in Willoughby, OH.

Louis career started at Sealtest Diary Corporation for 19 years before its closing.

He retired as an awarded manager from General Dynamics, and went on to employment at the Department of Transportation.

Louis leaves a loving family to cherish his memory.  Wife Gwendolyn, daughter Stephanie, grandson Nathan, Toni grand-daughter Tiffany, Crystal (Lawrence) grand-daughter Brittany, seven great grandchildren.  Cherished nephew Jackie Bailey, (Lucy).  Niece Deborah Johnson (Tommy deceased) Three grand-nieces and a grand nephew. Many loving cousins & relatives and host of friends.

Louis Interment will be held at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH

Sandra Lynn Sandoval (née McElravy) of Mentor, Ohio, has gone home to be with the Lord. Born in Washington, PA to John and Emily McElravy, she was raised in Painesville, Ohio and attended Riverside High School. She worked at the Lake County Center on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Yard Master, Kay Homes, and John D. Gas and Oil before she retired. She lived in Madison, Ohio for many years, with her partner Samuel DeJesus. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, music, laughter, and spending time with her family. Sandra is survived by her father, John B. McElravy of Mentor, brother John E. McElravy(Sue), of Painesville Twp, niece MaryAnn Sulak, and nephew Justin McElravy, daughter Kelly (Mark) Rosipko of Painesville Twp, son Matthew (Stacey) Hovlik of Painesville Twp. She leaves her grandchildren Mark Rosipko, Katie Hovlik, Michaela Rosipko, Erika Hovlik, Morgan Rosipko, and Madison Hovlik and one great granddaughter, Claire. She was preceded in death by her mother Emily McElravy, and her partner Samuel DeJesus. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

E.S. “Tracey” of Mentor, 71, passed away at home Sunday, December 6, 2020, after battling brain cancer for 29 months. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Anna Tracey, and by siblings Helen, Roger and Joyce.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia (Sears), and their children Carmen (Matt) and Dylan (Alyssa). Also surviving are siblings James (Annette), Nancy (Mike) Greenwalt, and Sharon Cianci, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Tracey proudly served in the United States Air Force as a jet mechanic and was stationed in Alaska, Florida and Korea during the Vietnam era. He was a member of VFW Post 8682 and Amvets Post 109 and a past member of several civic and fraternal organizations in Bowling Green and Mentor, Ohio. He received his undergraduate degree from Gulf Coast Community College and his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Business Administration degrees from the University of West Florida in Panama City. Tracey worked for Modern Woodmen of America since 1986 as a sales representative, district manager and agency manager and earned multiple designations and awards.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife, socializing with friends and clients and working out at the gym. His love for God, family and country along with his honest and easygoing nature will be fondly remembered by many. All arrangements will be private.

Matthew S. Carotenuto was born March 3,1984 in Euclid, Ohio. He gained his wings way too early on Nov.28,2020. He was a loving son to Barbara Carotenuto(Bittner). He was also a brother to Donovan, Franklin, and Kimberly Carotenuto. Also was an uncle to Robert F. Moats. Matt knew how to light up the room with his smile!

He was preceded with his father Franklin C. Carotenuto. Also with his grandparents Edmund and Josephine Bittner and Carmen and Carmella Carotenuto.

Joan McMillan (nee Smrcina), 79, of Perry OH passed Friday, November 27th at Hospice of the Western Reserve. Born in Elyria, she served in the Army until 1961. She worked as a draftsman at Caterpillar until she retired. Captain of The Perry Lady, she was a member of the North Coast Charter Boat Association. She was also a member of St. Cyprian’s Ladies Guild and the Western Reserve Wood Carvers Guild.Joan was preceded in death by her husband, James E. McMillan, parents, Mary Cahill (nee Cada) and Joseph Smrcina, son Charles Smrcina, and stepdaughter Margaret Ann Bilyk. She is survived by her brother David Smrcina (Marlene); nieces Cyndi Kellem, Kimberly Elswick, and Renee Haney; stepchildren Sally Mitchell, James McMillan, and Gregory McMillan; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.There will be a gathering at St. Cyprian Church in Perry from 10-11 a.m. Saturday December 5, followed immediately by a memorial mass.

He was preceded in death by his parents Morton, and Berenice Kent. Adrian enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren, golfing, and riding roller coasters at Cedar Point. Doris Kirkpatrick passed away on November 18, 2020. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Doris lived most of her life in Lake County. She is survived by her children Tamela Drum (fiance Kevin Manges), Pamela (David) Watkins, Edward Sr. (Cathy) Kirkpatrick. Grandchildren Angela, (Billy) Hedrick, Mario Drum, Edward Kirkpatrick Jr. and Tiarra Vincent. Great-grandchildren James Drum, Antabella Hedrick, McKenna Kirkpatrick, Billy Hedrick Jr. and Ethan Howiler. Sister of Glenn Hare, and Sister-in-law of Debbie (Bruce) Crum. She was preceded in death by her parents Ira and Mary Hare, sisters Elva Ware, Constance McIntosh, brothers Robert, James, Raymond, and Donald Hare. Graveside services will be held at Willoughby Cemetery on Sharp Road, Willoughby, OH on Friday November 20, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.
