Joseph E. Podojil, 84, of formerly of Willoughby, Kirtland Hills and Englewood, Florida.

Mr. Podojil passed away Friday, December 18, 2020, one day shy of his 85th birthday.

Loving son of the late Edward and Frances Podojil.

Joseph was a loyal, loving, and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

As a proud alumnus of Bowling Green State University, he was an accomplished athlete in baseball and basketball, and a Sigma Nu brother. He married his college sweetheart Barbara Ann Benham. Joe and Barb moved to Lake County and began their teaching careers with the Willoughby-Eastlake School District. Joe impacted many lives as a beloved shop teacher and coach. He continued his love of baseball well into his 50s playing in various leagues in Lake County and Englewood, Florida. He worked hard to retire early and pursue his passions of home remodeling, antiquing, and wood working. Ahead of his time, he flipped homes and repurposed flea market finds before it was cool.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara; daughters Joy Totedo, born on his 25th birthday (Bob) and Susan Kahn; grandchildren Sarah Totedo (husband Kevin Shimp) and Emily Totedo, and Nolan and Hannah Kahn. He also leaves his nieces Gretchen Hannon and Dr. Alison Ruoss and their families.

Private family services will be held for Joe at his final resting place in St. Petersburg, Florida with his mother and father.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to Playhouse Square, Attn: Development Department, 1501 Euclid Ave., Suite 200, Cleveland, OH 44115. www.blessingcremation.com
