Her father, Virgil Dent, was a vocational agriculture teacher and her mother, Marjorie Neill Dent, taught special needs children. Norma spent many years teaching English at Euclid Senior High School. Upon her retirement, she and her husband Dick spent several years teaching in Tarsus, Turkey and then on the Navajo Reservation in Sanders, Arizona.
