Lester Allan Jones 

1951 -  2023

Lester Jones, age 71, of Mentor Ohio, passed away on February 11, 2023 of congestive heart failure.  Lester was born on September 26, 1951 in Tulsa Oklahoma and grew up in Catoosa Oklahoma.  He graduated from Oklahoma State University and was a proud Oklahoma Sooner fan.  He moved to San Jose California shortly after graduating college to work in the Silicon Valley.  Lester was a lifelong learner of technology and held a variety of positions in project management, systems architecture, and software development spanning his 48 year professional career.  He liked taking photos of family, friends, nature, and landscapes.  He was an aviation enthusiast who earned his pilot license and attended many air shows. His parents instilled an appreciation of music at an early age.  He enjoyed playing guitar and piano and listening to classic rock and roll with overdriven guitar.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Sandra (Adkins); daughters Melissa (Ryan) Vovk, Rachel (Clint) Widdowson; sept-granddaughter Taylor Widdowson; sister Vicki (Larry) Anderson; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents Jarvis L. Jones and Jewel I. (Brazil) Jones and step-grandson Tiler Widdowson.

Lester was a generous person who valued caring for his family and fur babies.  He tolerated the Adkins clan.  He knew what he was getting into when Sandy invited her family to join them on their first date to an amusement park.  Vacations often included road trips to visit family in Oklahoma, Georgia, and New York. His family endured his silly sense of humor and attending dusty hot air shows.  He is sorely missed by those who loved and knew him.
