Brenda Sue Halcomb was born November 5, 1952 in Carcassonne, Kentucky.  Brenda is the daughter of the late Thomas and Lorene Halcomb.  Brenda departed this life on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 being 66 years, 2 months, and 24 days old.

Brenda was proceeded in death by one sister, Donna Halcomb.

She is survived by one daughter, Katrina (Tina) Lynn Combs and husband, Bradley Combs of Geneva, Ohio; (2) grandsons, Dallas Combs (Julie) of Geneva, Ohio and Austin Combs of Geneva, Ohio; (4) sisters, Sharon Mason (Pat) of Tallassee, Alabama, Ella Wright (Steve) of Pratville, Alabama, Lynn Wright of Tallassee, Alabama, and Rosetta Sturgill (Steve) of Tiffin, Ohio.  A best friend, Stanley Musial of Madison, Ohio, and her caregiver, Chris Lucas, many nieces and nephews and many, many, friends.

Brenda loved her family, making arts and crafts and sewing.  She loved her little dog "Bear" who was with her till the end.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Margaret Louise Pace, 88, of Mentor, Ohio passed away on January 19, 2019. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 29, 1930 to Frank C. and Lottie (Stodolny) Swanson. Margaret married Richard W. Pace on August 27, 1949 in Sioux City, Iowa. When Richard took a new teaching position in 1961, they moved to Chardon, Ohio and resided there for 32 years. In1993, Margaret and her husband, Richard, moved to Mentor, Ohio.

 Margaret was the mother of seven children: Frank (Joyce) Pace of Akron, Kathleen (Victor) Germano of Concord Township, Becky (Doyle) Foltz of Kirtland, Nancy Trask of Mentor, Timothy (Angela) Pace of Copley, Mary Margaret Weigle of Nashville, TN and Sarah (Tyrome) Ferguson of Nashville, TN. She was the grandmother of 19 and a great grandmother of 15.

Margaret was a stay-at-home mom until the early 70s when she starting working at Geauga Hospital. She was a former president of the NE Ohio Medical Records Association in 1985 and president of the Ohio Medical Record Association from 1988-1989. She retired from Geauga Hospital as the Director of Medical Records in 1994. Margaret was an active member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Mentor. She loved reading, sewing, traveling and was an avid card player. She enjoyed playing bridge for 65 years.

The last four years of Margaret’s life were spent as a resident of Kirtland Rehabilitation & Care facility in Kirtland, Ohio. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Pace, grandsons Daniel J. Foltz and Nathan A. Trask and brother, Walter C. Swanson of Cary, North Carolina.

Margaret Pace was a loving wife and mother. She was respected and loved in all aspects of her life. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

Calling hours will be at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Rt 615) in Mentor, Ohio, on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 3 to 7 PM . The funeral will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10 AM

Cheryl Ann Fitz (nee Teresi)

Cheryl Ann Fitz (nee Teresi) of Wickliffe, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2018 after being diagnosed 4 months earlier with cancer. Born July 16,1945, Cheryl was the loving mother of David (Marni) Fitz and Michelle (Ron) Muttillo; loving Grandmother of Christopher (Michelle), Brandon, Nicholas, David, Noah, Caden, Corrine, Lianne, and Jake; loving Great-Grandmother of Jonathon, Lincoln, and Athena; and loving sibling of Marilyn (Bob) Mantifel, dearest Aunt of Joe (Jennifer) Nagy, and Jason Nagy. Cheryl was a graduate of Wickliffe High School class of 1963. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Family will receive friends at Painesville Assembly of God Church, 10949 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., on Monday, January 28 at 10-11 am. A service to honor Cheryl will immediately follow in the sanctuary.

Eastlake resident, Joy Angelberger Lundblad, age 96, joined her loving husband "Jimmy" in heaven on January 5, 2019 after a brief illness.

She was born Dec. 19, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio.  After high school, she worked at Picker Xray where she met her future husband Jim.  She and Jim joined the Armed Services during WWII, where she served in the Navy and he in the Army.  Before her husband left to fight overseas in Europe, they were married in Texarkana, TX.  Joy was stationed in Washington DC where she worked in decoding.  In her spare time while there, she took flight training in a Piper Cub and received her pilot's license.  Joy was a proud active Veteran throughout her life.

After the war, Joy and her husband built a home in Mentor where they raised four children.  She later worked for Mentor Schools, taught Sunday School at Mentor Methodist Church and was a Girl & Boy Scout Leader.  Nearing retirement, Joy and Jimmy purchased and operated a family resort called "Little Sweden" on Lake Vermilion in Cook, MN.  They enjoyed many years up North before returning to Northeast, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by many relatives including her husband Jimmy and her grandson Brandon L. Williams, her sister Dorothy Montgomery and brother Ralph Angelberger.  She is survived by her four children:  Dale (Nan), Janice (David) Williams, Joy Karin and Charlie; three Grandchildren David (Lauren) Williams, Ashley (Jon) Bishop and Charlie Paul Lundblad; her Great-Grandchildren Emilia Williams and Graeme Bishop; along with nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Her whole life was active, adventurous and fiercely independent.  She was a wonderful mother and role model with her big smile and friendly personality.  She especially loved her road trips to Minnesota, going out to eat and flying with her daughter Joy.  She also proudly attended the Honor Flight Program last year in Washington DC to honor all Veterans in what she described as one of the most memorable days of her life.

A family Memorial Service will be held at a later date on Lake Vermilion in Cook, MN and Joy would have liked for any memorial contributions to be made to the Honor Flight Cleveland, c/o Joe Bennett at www.honorflightcleveland.com

Edward J. Arhar

Edward James Arhar, 93, passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2019. He was a devout Catholic, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Edward had a zest for life and a laugh that was contagious to all.


Edward was a Navy veteran, and a machinist by trade at National Acme in Cleveland. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, President of the Southern Club, and worked as an usher at his church when they lived in Florida for 28 years. Ed loved dancing and Polka music, and staying busy with home improvement projects and working on cars. He looked forward to yearly vacations with his family, was an avid Cleveland sports fan, and loved gardening (especially his tomatoes!).


Survivors include his wife Rosalie of 70 years (recently celebrated on January 8th); son, Joseph Arhar and daughter, Sharon (Steven) Dorrell-Ours; grandchildren, Jill (Ross) Jackson, Emily Dorrell, and Katie Ours (Colin Barrett); and great-grandchildren, Connor and Paige Jackson.


In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his siblings, Andy, Joseph, Frank, Tony, Ernest, and Julia; and grandson, Christopher.


Respects may be made to the family on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 9:00 am at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor, Ohio. A catholic mass will follow at 10:00.

Dennis P. Downey, 76, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019.

He was born May 5, 1942 in Braddock, PA, the son of the late Anthony P. and Amelia (Maskornick) Downey.  In 1959 he graduated from Braddock High School and entered into the US Air Force where he served 2 terms in Vietnam as a Staff Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1968.  During his military service, he photographed many former presidents and dignitaries including President Eisenhower's last official portrait.   

Dennis worked as an aerial photographer for Aerocon from 1973 until his retirement in 2004.   He was a very proud gardener and was well known in the neighborhood for holding a never-ending garage sale.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christine (Carson) Downey; daughter Tammy (Rick Gillenwater); grandson, Matt (Kelli)

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Ann Downey.

The family requests that, in place of flowers, memorials be made to Pets for Vets, a non-profit that provides animal companions for veterans or to the American Heart Association.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on January 27, 2019.  Please contact the family for further information.

Beloved son of Deborah and Duane Newnes, brother of Rachel DiBiasio (Emilio), Kaiser Newnes and Eric Newnes. Beloved partner to fiancee Rachel Talty and beloved uncle to Cody, Emilia, Annabella, Braylon, Kyla, Leighton. Daniel was a fun loving person who enjoyed life and respected others. He brought joy into the hearts of many with his care free attitude and engaging smile. He will be missed dearly. Her also loved his loyal dogs Winslow and Sage. Daniel was an avid sports fan who followed the Cleveland Browns and the Florida Gators. He graduated from North High School. He also graduated from The School of Culinary Arts in Pittsburgh, PA. and worked as a chef at various restaurants in Lake and Cuyahoga counties.

Go with God our dear Daniel !

Family will receive friends at the Lake County YMCA Outdoor Center Lodge/Hearth Room, 4540 River Rd. in Perry on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Joseph Adams

Joseph Adams, 82, died in Painesville, Ohio on December 17, 2018. 

He was born February 20, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph and Elizabeth Adams. 

He was a beloved member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses since his baptism on June 22, 1952 in Burton, Ohio, and served for 18 years as a full-time minister. His greatest joy was that his entire family are faithful servants of Jehovah. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will be greatly missed. 

Joseph was predeceased in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Adams. 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cyenda; three daughters, Rebekah (Ron) Reichard, Julie (Andy) Wilson, and Rachel (Randy) McIntosh; three grandsons, Mitchell McIntosh, Ethan McIntosh, and Baruch Wilson; one sister, Shirley (Dave) Hillard; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 7320 Middle Ridge Road, Madison, Ohio. 

A reception will follow to visit with family and friends.

Frank Antonacci

Frank Antonacci, died in Perry, Ohio on December 11, 2018.  He was born on April 15, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio and spent his entire adult life in Lake County. “Uncle Frankie” was a beloved member of the Antonacci clan and enjoyed fishing, yard work and riding his bicycle.

 He was preceded in death by his father, Guiseppe Antonacci, mother; Filomena (nee Cirino) Antonacci; bothers, Domenic M., Anthony Nicholas, and Carl; sisters, Mary Jane Meracky, Lucia Hecker, Louise Cugel and Josephine Tinker.

 He is survived by his brother Nicholas, and 15 nieces and nephews. A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.

Bud Charles Wolfe, 85, of Painesville, OH, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at TriPoint Medical Center in Painesville. He was born August 7, 1933 in Painesville to David and Viola Wolfe. Bud was a proud retiree from Mentor Schools where he served as a custodian for 18 years and was a former employee of The Diamond Shamrock Corp. Bud was a long-time member of the Painesville VFW. Bud was a proud resident and historian of the city of Painesville, Ohio. He also loved watching the Cleveland Indians.He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dorothy (Ketola/Chinchar), step daughter-in-law Vikki Chinchar of Mentor, Ohio, Step son Richard Chinchar (Cindy) of Mauldin, South Carolina, Step daughter Roberta Hoback (Barry) of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and Step son Ronald Chinchar of Westlake, Ohio. Also countless step grand, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by a sister Berniece Smith (Hugh) of Painesville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Doris (Wolfe) Vaughn and Step son, Robert Chinchar.

Phyllis Jean (Dishman) Houston, age 88, passed away December 8, 2018 at Precious Care Assisted Living in Concord Township, Ohio. She was born March 21, 1930 in Moundsville, WV the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Dalrymple) Dishman.  For nearly 60 years Phyllis was a devoted homemaker and lived in Vienna, Ohio, later moving to Concord Township in the Summer of 2015, where she took up residence at Pine Hill Country Care.  The last 3 weeks of her life were spent at Precious Care Assisted Living. Phyllis enjoyed her time at home crocheting, doing word search puzzles, cooking and especially baking.  She loved all animals, in particular birds that she fed with regularity.  For many years she gardened, producing an abundance of vegetables, that she canned for future use.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Howland, where she worshipped, and often took day trips with other members.

She is survived by her siblings, Mary Garrison, John Dishman, Sarah Anderson West, and Ron Dishman; sister-in-law, Betty (Guthrie) Dishman; many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Patrick Houston on December 8, 1995; siblings, James Dishman (Vivian), Delores Martin (Keith), Fredrick Dishman, Peg Mason (Gene), and Betty Strait (Tom); sister-in-law, Sharon Dishman; brother-in-laws, Richard Anderson and Jim West.

At her request, there will be no services.  Burial will be next to her husband in Jacksonville Cemetery, Wind Ridge, PA. The family wish to express their deepest and most sincere appreciation to the staff of Pine Hill Country Care, Precious Care and the wonderful "Angels" that are the support team from Hospice of the Western Reserve.  You all made Phyllis' time with you meaningful and full of love.  May God continue to bless you and your work.

John E. Jones

November 12, 1930 - November 15, 2018

John E. Jones was born November 12, 1930 in Greenville, Alabama, and gave his life to Christ at an early age. He then married Ethel Jones at the tender age of 17 after being high school sweethearts, and they were married 60 plus years until his passing. John had a long-term working relationship with Picker Industries for 30 plus years. John was known well for his impeccable style, which was often imitated, but NEVER duplicated!! John E. Jones departed this life peacefully on November 15, 2018. He leaves to mourn his memory, his wife Ethel Jones; 7 Siblings, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He also leaves behind 6 daughters - Sherry Banks, Dreama and Crystal Prince, Robin Hester, Veronica Peterson, and Loleta Russell plus a numerous host of loved relatives and friends.

His body is gone, but his loving spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him forevermore.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 3p-6p at Tuckers Casino 15532 Euclid Ave. East Cleveland, Ohio
