William M. Fetsko
William Mitchell Fetsko, age 96, of Eastlake, passed away peacefully in his home on November 26, 2021.
He was born in Hecla, Pennsylvania, the son of Michael and Johanna (Dzuroff) Fetsko. He was a proud Army Air Corps Staff Sergeant, flying 48 missions in a B24 Liberator in the South Pacific in World War II.
He attended and graduated from Penn Commercial College in 1948. He moved to Cleveland and was employed by Lincoln Electric for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Bernice (Matiyasic), and his siblings, Pauline and Robert.
He is survived by his four children: Pam (Blaine) Benko, Gary (Veronica) Fetsko, Paula Fetsko, and Christi (Jay) Morgan.
He was known as "Buddy" to his grandchildren: Michael (Jodi) Fetsko, William Fetsko, Rachel Fetsko, Andrew Fetsko, Greg (Amy) Benko, Jonathan Benko, Tristan Morgan, Alex Morgan, and great-grandsons, Ben and William Fetsko, and many nieces and nephews.
Golfing was a favorite past time; he was in a golf league well into his later years. Fishing in Ligonier, PA with the boys in the family was a tradition since he was a child and continues today. In his later years, it gave him great joy to watch his son, grandson, and great-grandsons play hockey, as well as listen to Big Band music and watch old movies.
He loved his family and loved life. If you asked him how he was doing, he would never complain; his reply was always, "I’m still here!"
As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or visitation. Family and friends will be notified of a graveside service and celebration of life to be held in the spring. To honor our gratitude for our father’s patriotism, the family is requesting that remembrances be made in the form of any donations or assistance to a local Veterans' association of your choice, Miracle City Hospice, www.miraclecityhospice.com or The Centers for Dialysis Care www.cdcare.org
