Lawrence L. Wilson
January 29, 1938 - April 14, 2018
Lawrence L. Wilson, 80 of Kirtland, passed from this life to eternity on April 14, 2018. He was never able to fully recover from three major surgeries he had in February. Born in Cleveland, Ohio he grew up in Cleveland Heights and East Cleveland, graduating from Shaw High School. Larry joined the Army in 1956 and was stationed in France as a Military Policeman. His high school sweetheart Nancy would join him in France where they were married in February of 1957, and their first child Clifford was born there in May of 1958. Upon discharge from the Army and returning to Ohio, Larry worked as an electrician in Cleveland; he then attended college, graduating from Kent State with a degree in teaching. In 1966 Larry would move his family to Kirtland where his wife Nancy would become the Secretary of Kirtland Middle School for the next 30 years. A daughter, Suzanne, would join the family in 1969. Larry began teaching at Kirk Junior High, then taught at Brush High School from 1967-1979. He started Brush High School’s first electronics program, as well as their initial work study program, (O.W.E.) Occupational Work Experience. Following his teaching career, he joined Raimor Studios, and American School Pictures as their General Manager until he retired in 2004. Larry and Nancy loved to live life together, joining couples golf leagues, training and showing their champion Cardigan Welsh Corgi’s, traveling, cooking, and of course spending time with family and friends. Retirement did not come easy as Nancy would begin to show the signs of Alzheimer’s. Larry loved and cared for her with all of his heart during those years until she passed in 2015. His love, care and devotion to Nancy would solidify his legacy to his children, family, and friends. Lawrence is survived by his son Clifford (Reesa) Wilson, daughter Suzanne (Jim) Yarborough, grandchildren; Tara (Matt) Sheffield, Alexa Wilson, Mitchell Yarborough, Keith Yarborough, Megan Yarborough, and Great Grandson Aaron Sheffield, as well as extended family and friends too numerous to count.
