William F. Catania

Biagio (William F.) Catania lovingly nicknamed “Big Boy,” 87 of Kirtland, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday January 17, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 14, 1938 in Cleveland, OH, William was the beloved son of the late Dominic and Anna (Conti).

William was self-employed most of his life, including restaurant ownership in his early years, and the past 50 years as a carpenter, Catania Construction.

William was very involved in his community serving as a Kirtland Volunteer Fireman, Kirtland Kiwanis where he was honored as Citizen of the year, and a city councilman. William also served as a Board Member for the Lake County Health District. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, watching sports, and also enjoyed the Goodtimes Club. William loved cooking for his family, and friends, with a pot of sauce on the stove. He also enjoyed spending time on “Porchville,” his sprawling porch with his friends, family, and music gave him such great pleasure.

William is survived by his wife Patricia (Grinstead) for 55 years. His children Pamela King (James), Kellie Swaney, Natalie and William (Stacy), 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, his brother Dominic (Juanita), and sister Mary Ann.

He was preceded in his by his parents and brother Raymond (Mary Ellen). A special thank you to the wonderful staff of Hospice of the Western Reserve for their tender loving cares.

A Private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
