W. Anne Schweinfurth
W. Anne Schweinfurth, 98, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2025. Anne was born in 1926 in Marion, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas English Reed Sr. and Blanche Estelle Blanchard Reed. Anne met her future husband Robert Wilfred Schweinfurth in band at Marion Harding High School. They were married in 1949 and had 59 years together before Robert’s passing in 2008. Anne graduated from Miami University with a degree in Business Administration. Following graduation, she was employed as the business manager at Hughes Photography in Marion, Ohio.
Anne was a devoted mother managing the home while Robert pursued a management career at Ohio Edison for 38 years. In addition to raising her four children, Anne was an active member and leader in various nonprofit organizations in the Warren and Howland Ohio community. These included Howland Schools PTO, Warren Women’s Club, Trumbull County Republican Women’s Club, Salvation Army, Easter Seals, Trumbull Town Hall, Warren Civic Music Association, The Upton House, Trumbull New Theater, Warren Library Association, and the Guardian Angel program in Trumbull County Probate Court. Anne volunteered as a Master Gardner through the Ohio State Cooperative Extension Program, and she also taught gardening skills to the students at H.C. Mines Intermediate School in Howland.
Anne was an active member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Warren and enjoyed attending the Chautauqua Institution for a week each summer in Chautauqua NY. She always loved dogs, treasured her family, hosting friends, and enjoyed volunteering, traveling, camping, reading, bridge, and gardening. Anne believed that love was best demonstrated by rolling up your sleeves and helping with your hands and your heart, and offering some of her baked goods didn’t hurt either!
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant daughter Sheryl Anne. She is survived by sons Dodd Schweinfurth (Carol) New Orleans and Bill Schweinfurth (Sharon Southard) Rochester, NY, and by daughters Heidi Slagle (Jim) Northfield, OH and Julie Imbler (Jim) Littleton, CO.
