Edward Thomas Marcel

Edward Thomas (94) of Painesville, OH passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was the beloved husband of Judith and the devoted father of Lisa Burrage, Amy Brunsen (Bill), Anne De May (Rich), Ruthanne Bell, Thomas, and Michael (Tracey) Marcel.  He was cherished grandfather to Tom Serger, Alexandra Burrage, Gabrielle Burrage, Isabella Burrage (Rachel), Adam Brunsen (Sarah), Carolyn Brunsen (Grace), Sophia Marcel, Jordan and Lauren Bell.

He was great grandfather to Taylor Bergoch, Danika Serger and Gianna Serger.

Dear brother of Linda Lucas (Ed) and Arlene Borger and uncle to many loving nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Delores Martin and his parents, Edward and Katherine Marcel. 

Born in Mount Vernon, NY, Tom moved to Painesville as a young teenager with his parents and siblings.  After graduating from Harvey High School, he went on to earn a degree in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati.  After starting his own company, E Thomas Marcel Architects, Tom went on to enjoy a successful career that spanned over 50 years.  Throughout his esteemed career, Tom was always recognized for the highest standards, talent, and creativity he brought to every project.  Tom’s legacy can be seen in the many buildings and design projects he was associated with in and around Lake County.   

Tom served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He had been a past member of the Mentor Rotary Club, the Elks Club, and the Lake County Historical Society where he also served a term as president.

Tom embodied intelligence, kindness, integrity, and wit.  His unconditional love and constant steady guidance, like our memory of him, will endure and embrace us always.  He was so loved and will be missed dearly.

A memorial service is planned for March 9th, 11:00am at the Western Reserve Memorial Gardens Chapel in Chesterland, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of The Western Reserve.

March 19, 1933 - October 17, 2018

Dearly beloved husband of Margaret (deceased); father of Edward Jr. (Lori), John (Sandy), James (Nancy), and Jeffrey (Karen); grandfather of Joseph (Kimberly), Michael (Lindsay), Gregory, Alexa, Jeffrey, Johnny, and Mark; great-grandfather of Cayden, Evan, Ava, and Addison; brother of Mary Ann Dalton (Richard) (both deceased); companion of Nadia Mutter; brother in law and uncle of many.Edward was a proud US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the 101stAirborne Division.

Edward J. McGill

October 4, 1949 - February 10, 2018

Edward J. McGill, 68, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Hospice House. Edward was born October 4, 1949 in Painesville, Ohio, the son of the late James J. and Charlotte (nee Call) McGill.  He graduated from Mentor High School in 1967 and attended Tri-C where he received a certificate in landscape design.  From 1968-1972, Edward proudly served in the US Navy before being honorably discharged. He is survived by the love of his life, Donna; sister, Patricia Pryatel of Willoughby; brother, Michael of Mentor; nieces and a nephew. Preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Jeff Johnson; maternal grandparents Frank and Helen Call; paternal grandparents, Edward and Anna McGill.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

A special "thank you" to the ICU staff at Lake West and the wonderful people at Hospice of the Western Reserve.

Edward Earl McGarvey Jr.

September 22, 1965 - January 1, 2018

 

Edward Earl McGarvey, Jr., 52, of Painesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 1, 2018.  He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 22, 1965 the son of the late Edward Earl and Maryann (nee Jeavons) McGarvey, Sr.  He was a graduate of Mentor High School and resided in Painesville the last 28 years.  He was a hard working man in the construction industry working as a foreman for Tri County Insulation for seven years and took much pride in all of his hard work.  He was an honest man and enjoyed every moment of his life to the fullest. Some of his many hobbies included collecting beer cans, whistling, singing, carpentry and home improvements.  He held multiple records in weight lifting and strongman competitions for which he received many awards and trophies. He was a compassionate husband to his wife Maryann of 27 wonderful years.  He was a devoted father to his daughter, Lynnsey 26, and his son LCPL Derick USMC, 21.  He is also survived by sister, Kimberly and brother, Wayne.  He was a very loving uncle and brother and will be missed dearly.

A memorial service will be held at Victory Baptist Church, 8911 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, OH on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 3:00pm.
