Shirley L. Ewald
March 29, 1934 - December 7, 2016
Shirley Ewald (nee Seifrit) passed away December 7, 2016 at Burton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert. She was the first of three daughters of John and Mary Seifrit, born and raised in Fairmont, WVA. After graduating from East Fairmont High School in Fairmont, she attended Fairmont State College where she performed as a majorette, pursued her love of music and earned a degree in music education. It was there that she also met her husband to be, Robert. A devoted wife and dedicated mother who had breakfast on the table every morning for her children, a packed lunch for school and was home for them at the end of every day. She will be remembered for her masterful piano playing and teaching, the meticulous way she decorated the family Christmas trees, and her kindness and caring for all. In later years, she enjoyed waitressing at Cardillos, Town House Restaurant, Chester Diner, and Berkshire Hills Country Club in Chesterland and often reminisced about the friends and acquaintances she met there. Shirley was avid sports fan and enjoyed watching every Cavaliers and Browns game, and rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The family would like to thank the Geauga Couny Department on Aging, Meals on Wheels, and especially Grace Hospice for the wonderful services that they provide. We’d also like to thank neighbor Sandra Prahst for the special care and help provided. Shirley is survived by her husband Robert, sisters Linda Willis and Debbie Seifrit, daughters Beth Dillaha, Diana Ewald, Kathy and husband Pat Porter, son Chris Ewald and wife Suzi, grandchildren Ben and wife Meghan, Ryan, Brandon, Dan, Ethan, and great grandchild John.
Services will be held at a later time.
