Robert Collins

Robert Collins passed away surrounded by his family on January 18, 2026.

Cherished son of the late Pearl and Orrin Collins. Loving husband of Sue Collins. Devoted father of Sonja, Deardra, and Tiffany Collins. Grandfather of Shawn Green Jr. Dear brother of Leslie (Terri) Collins, Rex Collins and Cindy Sears. Brother-in-law to Tom (Candace) Munich. Robert was the proud uncle of many nieces & nephews. He was proceeded in death by his sisters Penny (Mike) Hurley and Janet Ballash. His brothers Orrin Collins and Bart Collins and his brother-in-law Dale Sears.

Robert was a retired Cleveland Police officer from the 6th district for twenty seven years and made detective while in his years of service. He played on the Cleveland Police midnight softball league and dressed as Mcgruff, the crime dog, for police events.  He worked the East 185th street fairs and the NASCAR race events. On "take your child to work day" Robert would always take his daughters with him. He was very dedicated to his work and enjoyed his career.

Robert's hobbies were camping, attending auctions and collecting coins, vehicles, trailers, and anything that was free. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, and won many trophies. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends and watching TV, especially old westerns, which were his favorite. He loved swimming, being in the sun, and watching the sunset with his wife.

Robert purchased his beloved property in Pennsylvania when he was a teenager from his grandparents Orrin and Arzella Collins. He enjoyed spending time on his property, where he built a cabin for his family and found a natural spring that led him to build a beautiful pond in 1983. He spent his time riding ATVs, building bonfires, and lighting off fireworks. He loved riding his tractor and cutting the grass. Robert was so proud of his property that he invited all his friends and family to come share in the special moments that would be created there throughout the years.

Roberts greatest passion in life was spending time with his family. From camping to stopping at random farms to pet & feed the animals, Robert always wanted to bring joy to his girls. He took his family to Cleveland Police picnics, amusement parks, and firework shows, where he made sure they were the first to arrive and the last to leave. He rode cross-country with his wife on his Triumph motorcycle, drove cross-country with his family in a high top van and flew to Germany to visit his wife's family. He spent time with his grandson, teaching him how to ride a bicycle and four wheelers. Robert was a devoted husband and an amazing father and grandfather.

Robert was one of a kind with a big personality and lived life on his own terms. To know him was to love him. Robert had such a big heart, he was kind and giving and always wanted the people around him to be happy. He treated everyone as if they were family. Many people looked up to him and many others saw him as a father figure. Roberts absence will leave a space no one will be able to fill, but his memories and traditions will live on forever through his family and in the hearts of those who loved him.

"Those we love don't go away,

They walk beside us every day.

Unseen, unheard, but always near,

Still loved, still missed, and very dear."
