Robert Collins

Robert Collins age 73, of Richmond Heights, passed away surrounded by his family on January 18, 2026. Cherished son of the late Pearl and Orrin Collins. Loving husband of Sue. Devoted father of Sonja, Deardra, and Tiffany Collins. Grandfather of Shawn Green Jr. Dear brother of Leslie (Terri Collins), Rex Collins, Cindy Sears, and the following deceased: Penny (husband Mike Hurley), Janet Ballash, Orrin and Bart Collins. Robert was the proud uncle of  many nieces & nephews.

Robert was a retired Cleveland police officer from the 6th district for twenty seven years, who made detective while in his years of service. He played on a midnight softball league. Something interesting people might not know is  Robert dressed as Mcgruff, the crime dog, for the police events.  He worked the 185th street fair,  the NASCAR race events, and was very dedicated to his job and family.

Robert's hobbies were attending auctions, collecting coins, camping, vehicles, trailers, and of course, anything that was free. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, and won many trophies. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends, watching TV, but the old  Westerns were his favorite. He loved swimming, being in the Sun, and watching the sunset with his wife.

Robert purchased his beloved property in Pennsylvania from his grandparents Orrin and Arzella Collins. When he was teenager, he enjoyed spending time on his property, where he built a cabin for his family and found a natural spring that led him to build a beautiful pond in 1983. This pond became a spot for everyone to enjoy for years to come. He spent his time riding atvs, building bonfires, and lighting off fireworks. He loved riding his tractor and cutting the grass. Robert was so proud of his property, that he invited all his friends to come and spend time with him. This property was so special, that family and friends would continue to come back for years.

His greatest passion in life was spending time with his family. He enjoyed  stopping at random farms to pet & feed the animals. The Collins family attended the  cleveland police picnics, amusement parks, and fireworks shows, where we were always the first to arrive, and the last to leave. Robert rode cross-country with his wife on his triumph, motorcycle, as well as drove cross-country with his family in a high top Van. He spent time with his grandson, teaching him to ride a bike and 4 wheelers. Robert was a devoted husband and an amazing father and Grandpa. Many people look up to him. And also saw him as a father figure as well. Robert's absence will leave a space, no one will ever be able to fill, but his memories will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

Robert was one of a kind with a big personality, and lived life on his own terms. To know him was to love him. Robert had such a big heart. He was a giving man who always wanted the people around him to be happy. He treated everyone as if they were family. The loss of Robert will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his memories and traditions will live on through his family.

"Those we love don't go away,

They walk beside us every day.

Unseen, unheard, but always near,

Still loved, still missed, and very dear."

Rest easy Robert, your love will live on forever.
