Rita Ann Walter
Rita Ann Walter, 82, of Mentor, Ohio beloved sister, aunt, partner and friend, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, after a courageous battle against cancer.
Rita was born on March 14, 1943 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Rose and George Walter. Rita grew up with a strong sense of family and faith that remained central throughout her life. Rita retired from Rockwell Automation in Twinsburg, Ohio.
She was deeply devoted to her loved ones and cherished time spent with her family, especially her many nieces and nephews, and friends who remember her with love and gratitude. She touched the lives of those around her with generosity and care, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her brothers, David Walter (Debra) of Willoughby, Ohio; Ralph Walter (Janet Stone) of Portsmouth, Ohio; and Mark Walter (Penny) of Pataskala, Ohio; nine nieces and nephews, David Walter, Dori O’Connor, Dawn Murphy, Danielle Ruggiero, Cortney Carpenter, Shawn Walter, Elizabeth Hamner, Lauren Johnson, and Hailey Flood; 20 great nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by Jim Curry, her partner of many decades; her parents Elizabeth Rose and George Walter; sister Marijane Kitchen; and nephew Shane Walter.
A Mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, September 19th, 2025, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor, Ohio.
Inurnment will be at Western Reserve Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland , Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Rita’s memory to a charity of your choice.
