Richard “Dick” “B” Rasper
Richard (Dick) (“B") Anthony Rasper, born on September 28, 1933 in Cleveland Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on November 13 in Chesterland, Ohio. His wife AnnElla Rasper preceded him in death in 2023. They were married for 67 years. Richard is survived by his son, Rick Rasper ( Ellen) , daughters, Barb Schroeder (Kevin) and Amy Bechhold ( Bruce). Richard also has 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Known for his intelligence, Richard was told by his parents that he could either be a pastor or a teacher. Not content with being able to do just one, he pursued both and spent his career as an itinerant pastor and sixth grade teacher. In his retirement years, he dedicated his life to serving Jesus and serving others. He and his wife AnnElla took on the ministry of being premarital counselors at Parkside Church. They were also very involved in children’s ministry, as well as making deep connections with friends in Bible study groups.
An avid reader and sports fan, Dick especially loved following the Cleveland Indians and the Browns. He never lived to see a Cleveland Browns championship, but was hoping that the next generation would.
Dick will be remembered as being a hard worker , an excellent teacher, speaker, storyteller and passionate Christ follower. He was a loving husband and a dedicated and sacrificial father. Family and friends will also remember him for making the best banana bread known to man.
Always completing everything he started, Dick demonstrated resilience in all the challenges of life. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children and taught them the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Even in his final days, he was witnessing the truth of the gospel and sharing the love of Christ with others. He is now in his heavenly home, celebrating with AnnElla and their friends.
A memorial service will be held at Parkside Church 7100, Pettibone Rd. Chagrin Falls on Friday, December 5th at 4 o’clock in the Fellowship Hall.
