Nancy A. Hearn
Nancy Ann Hearn, age 79, of Madison, Ohio passed away peacefully at home March 10th. Her departure from this life was eased in her final days by love from family and friends who visited, called, and kept her in thought and prayer. Her beloved pets Jasper, Keiko and Mei-Koo were by her side.Nancy was born in Painesville, Ohio to Harry and Dorothy Carrig. She graduated from Harvey High School in 1960 and spent time as a foreign exchange student in Argentina. She graduated from the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, earned a nursing degree and later continued her studies at Case Western Reserve University and John Carroll University. Nancy assisted teaching surgical nursing at Mt. Sinai and was a long-time RN, BSN. She married David Hearn in 1976 and the two enjoyed 28 happy years together until his passing in 2004. For many years she helped the family businesses; David Hearn and Son Plumbing and Heating and Madison Hardware on Main Street.Nancy is survived by her children Michael (Rachelle) Hearn of Painesville, Dan (Jennifer) Hearn of Mentor and Ginny Hearn of Painesville; stepchildren Linda (Bob) Dion, Polly Kenneth and Dan (Cate) Hearn; granddaughter Sara Misura; step-grandchildren Tom (Dennielle) Hearn, Jeff Hearn, Alex (Erin) Hearn and Chelsey (Josh) Carpenter and their families; brother Tom Carrig, nephew Stephen (Ruthie) Carrig; great-niece and great-nephew Veronica and Leo Carrig; cousins Jean Smith and Dick Moodey, .She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, stepdaughter Jeanne Caruthers, brother-in-law James Imburgia, and sister-in-law Elaine Carrig.Nancy will be remembered for her lovable personality, quick wit and humor, and the selfless ways she cared for and comforted others. She never met a stranger. Her gentle, cheerful spirit enhanced the lives of her nursing patients, loved ones and everyone she met.A devout Catholic, Nancy was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Madison where she helped serve others through the ICC Charities.She was a board member of The Madison Historical Society, serving the organization as president and co-president and taking on various responsibilities through the years to preserve Madison’s history.As a lifetime member of The Madison Garden Club, Nancy delighted in helping to beautify Madison through her work with the club. She took pride in maintaining her own garden for passersby and visitors to enjoy.Nancy will be sorely missed by so many --- including the birds, chipmunks and squirrels whose antics at her backyard feeders she enjoyed daily.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, March 19, 11 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road, Madison, Ohio 44057Final interment will be at a later date with immediate family at Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville.In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Nancy’s name to Immaculate Conception Church’s ICC Charities, The Madison Garden Club, or The Madison Historical Society.
