Joan Emily Bernhardt Murray (June 5, 1936-September 22, 2025)

Our family and friends say goodbye to our beloved mother and treasured friend, Joan Murray.  Joan was preceded in death by her husband Ken, parents Charles and Virginia (McGee) Bernhardt, and brother Ken Bernhardt, brother and sister-in-law Edwin and Betty Murray.  Joan is survived by her three children Kathi (Tom) Tagliamonte, Alan (Lori) Murray, and Patti (Michael) Brown; our “other brother”  Jim (Pablo Montiel) Linhart; sister in law Kathy Bernhardt; and former daughter in law Anne Yatska Murray; grandchildren Tony (Kate) Murray, Casey (Michelle Burns) Murray, Julie (Rytas) Petraitis, Rachel (Rob Kollar) Tagliamonte, Alex Murray, Jacob Brown, Matthew Brown, Kenneth Brown; great-grandchildren Chase, Connor, Everett, Natalie, and Mallory, Algis and Leo; and Olive, her faithful and doting dog.  Joan is survived by her nieces Colleen (John Greiner) Murray, and Leigh (Jim) Calvert, and nephew Bob (Jennifer) Murray. Joan was employed by Mentor School District Transportation Department as a bus driver, where she made many lifelong friends.  Joan was an avid master gardener, great cook and party host, and an animal lover.  The family wishes to thank Betty, Mary Ann, Katherine, Esther, Connie, Debbie, and Cassidy for all their compassion, care, and friendship. 

A Celebration of Life will be held October 4, 2025 at 2:00PM located at the Chardon Township Town Hall, 9949 Mentor Road, Chardon, OH.

Joan lived by the motto “Friends are the most important thing in life” and will be missed by all.
