Grace M. Middleton

Grace M. Middleton (nee Cahill), age 95, of Lake County for more than 85 years, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the youngest child of ten children. Loving daughter of the late William J, and Elsie (nee Schrock) Cahill.  She graduated from Willoughby Union High School in June 1948. She married John Green Sr., in 1948, and had two sons, John Green Jr. (deceased), and William Green, and divorced in 1957.  She became a real estate broker at former Grace Green Realty, located in Willoughby, Ohio on Euclid Avenue. She was the past president of Lake County Board of Realtors (the 1st Woman President). She was the secretary and bookkeeper for Middleton Unger Const., and Mentor Sand and Supply Company for many years. She married (Jim) Ralph Middleton (deceased), and were together for more than 47 years.

She is survived by step-sons, Jim (Debbie), Tom (e-wife, Evie); step-son, Billy (Peggy Gies) Green; grandkids, Bridget (Matt) Hanna, Tom (Kim) Green, Beth (Dan) Hixson, Amy (Tom) Hurst, James Middleton, Sarah (Sean Holland) Middleton, Joey (Falicia) Middleton and Tina (Nathan) Dunbar; and 17 great-grandkids; 1 great-great grandchild, and very good friend, and the late Syliva Bolyard, and Sally O’Malley. Many nieces and nephews she was known as “Auntie Gracie.” Grace was very proud of her Irish Heritage, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Grace was an avid boater on Lake Erie, and was a member of The Mentor Lagoon Yacht Club for 30+ years.

A Celebration of Life will be held with family at friends at a later date this summer.
