Charles Saylor

It is with a light heart and fond memories that we announce the passing of Charles Saylor, who embarked on his final adventure on February 2, 2026, in Painesville, Ohio. Charles was born on June 5, 1950, in the charming town of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and spent his

life making the world a brighter place for those around him. Charles was a devoted husband to Roberta and a loving father to his two daughters, Manda West and Lindsay English. He was the proud brother of Audrey Porter, Robert, and William Martin, and he now joins his family members who have gone before him: his father, Charles L. Saylor; his mother, Ruth Martin; stepfather David Martin; and sisters Janet Knight, Donna Snyder, and Carol Layman.

A proud Marine and dedicated Mason, Charles brought the same passion and tenacity to his career at Morton Salt, where he worked for an impressive 48 years. But beyond work, Charles had a zest for life that was exemplified in his many hobbies. He found joy in camping, fishing, and gardening, but nothing brought him more satisfaction than his passion for woodworking. He spent countless hours crafting beautiful clocks and timeless wooden toys, which will live on as cherished treasures for generations.

Charles was a true family man and enjoyed every moment spent with his loved ones, especially his grandkids: Joseph Saylor and his wife Emily, Jeston Yeater, and Hannah Yeater (John); Hailey Yeater (Dustin), Charles English, and Logan English. And we can't forget the adorable great-grandkids: Garrison Saylor, Amara and Liara Saylor, and Samuel Yeater and Lillian Roth, who brought so much joy to his life.

In lieu of traditional services, the family has decided to forego a ceremony at this time. Instead, they invite everyone to join in a celebration of Charles’s life this coming spring—a time to share stories, laughter, and all the wonderful memories he gifted us. As a heartfelt tribute to Charles, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your favorite charity in his name. He would have loved to know that his legacy continues through acts of kindness in the community. Cheers to you, Charles! Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and all those perfectly crafted wooden toys. You will be missed, but your spirit will continue to inspire us all.
