CARLOS LONG

January 27, 1952 - February 27, 2016

Carlos Long was born on January 27, 1952.  He was born to the late Gladys (Fowler) Long, of Cincinnati, Ohio and Alfonso Long of Hazard, Kentucky.  He was the fourth born of twelve children.  While growing up Carlos and the family attended Southern Baptist Church under Pastro Robert Hill's leadership.


Carlos was a person that truly enjoyed life.  He loved reading.  If you gave him a book, he would have it read in three days, and then want to tell you about it.  He loved old music.  Chuck Berry, O-Jays, and The Spinners were some of his favorites.  He also loved watching old westerns and cartoons.  Most importantly, Carlos loved his family. 


He was always there to help out when he could and he was extremely protective of his sisters.  He was always ready to defend them by saying "I got some big hammers for them" that is for anyone that dared to bother his sisters.  Carlos was extremely fond of Mazine.  He often referred to her as his twin.  She loved Carlos, she would always speak on his behalf. 

Carlos was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Gladys and Alfonso Long. His brother, Billy Ray Long, and his niece Le-Shandra Long.

He leaves to morn for him his daughter, Nedra Smith and two grandchildren, William and Michael Smith. 

He leaves four brothers: Will Gus, Robert, Richard and Samuel Long; six sisters: Christine, Maxine (Melvin) Templeton, Carline (Mark) Rice, Henrietta Long, Jewell (Abdullah) Mubarak, and Ellen Long; and a host of neices and nephews.
