Elizabeth Ellsworth

Elizabeth (Betty) Ellsworth, a loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and cherished member of the Richfield and Brecksville communities, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025. She was born on August 22, 1929, in Brecksville, Ohio. Betty lived a life filled with love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God and devotion to prayer.  

Betty was known for her nurturing spirit and strong devotion to family. She is survived by her children Paul Ellsworth (Sherry), Jean Ellsworth-Wolk (Terry), Scott Ellsworth (Kathy) and Brian Ellsworth. Her legacy extends to her grandchildren, Ross Crowder, Lauren Wolk, Kyle Ellsworth, Todd Ellsworth, Sara Smith, Nathan Ellsworth,and Aliya Ellsworth, and her great grandchildren, WillowCrowder, Meadow Crowder, and Aspen Crowder, each of whom carries forward her love and values.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ellsworth, and her grandson, Jared Ellsworth.

Throughout her life, Betty found joy in the simple pleasures: playing tennis, baking delightful treats for her family, playing card and board games, bird watching, nurturing her garden, and hosting gatherings that brought everyone together. She was a volunteer usher at the historic theaters in downtown Cleveland as well as devoted to volunteering and serving her community, exemplifying her Catholic faith through her actions and kindness.

A memorial mass to honor Betty’s life will be held on Friday, January 16th at 10:00am at St. Basil The Great Catholic Church, 8700 Brecksville Road Brecksville, OH 44141. A private internment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Jennings at Brecksville Donate | Jennings 

Betty Ellsworth will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
